I think this must of been going a long time but I’ve been a Virgin Media subscriber since it was NTL and never come across their Virgin mirror service for popular open-source software downloads.
I’ve just downloaded OpenOffice from there at 10Mbps, which is about the limit of my wireless link rather than the cable modem downstairs - very impressive. They also run an unlisted cpan archive for the Perl users out there. You seem to be able to find the complete list of archives they’re mirroring if you access their site through ftp, it includes things like Centos Linux, Samba and the whole GNU archive.
